Implementation of HONK Paid Parking System in the Municipality of Temagami

The month of May 2026 will serve as a pilot project period for the new HONK paid parking system in the Municipality of Temagami.

An implementation plan was presented to Council at its meeting of November 27, 2025. Council
approved the implementation plan through Resolution 25-496. The resolution directed staff to:

• implement paid parking using the HONK QR code-based service;
• proceed with the initial implementation period and report back to Council;
• expand the paid parking and QR code-based system to all public landings following the pilot phase;
• install the required signage identifying parking rules, locations, rates, and QR codes;
• complete the services and processes required to implement the system at all public landings;
• include both a daily and hourly parking rate category; and
• provide for the issuance of a ratepayers’ parking pass.

The HONK system is now scheduled to go live on April 29, 2026.
