What Is the TLA?
We are the property owners’ Association for the Lake Temagami, Ontario region.
What the TLA Does:
We are dedicated to ensuring that the “Tenets For Temagami” are embedded in all planning documents for the Temagami area. The “Tenets” are a set of principles (agreed upon by the Township of Temagami, the TLA, and the Lake Temagami Permanent Residents’ Association on March 8, 1994) that promote the TLA’s core values regarding no mainland development, protection of the “Skyline Reserve”, island-only development, and a ban on new road access to Lake Temagami.
To this end, the TLA monitors and reviews municipal planning activities and land-use applications and, if necessary, hires legal and planning professionals to assist.
We are also concerned with environmental issues (including invasive species), and have implemented a water-quality-monitoring program for the Lake through Temagami Environmental Research and Stewardship (TERAS).
