2026 Temagami Municipal Election Information

Election Day for the 2026 Municipal Election is Monday, October 26, 2026, and will be held by “Vote by Mail”.

How can I vote?

There are several ways to get your vote counted.

The Municipality of Temagami will be conducting the 2026 Municipal Election by “Vote By Mail”. A Voters’ Kit will be mailed to every person who qualifies to be a Voter and is on the Voters’ List. Voters can expect to receive their kits by early October. The deadline to return by Canada Post is October 15, 2026 to ensure your vote is counted on Election Day. Any ballots received by/at the Municipal Office after 8:00 p.m. on Election Day will not be eligible votes.
During the voting period (when you receive your Vote by Mail package) until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, the Municipal Office located at 7 Lakeshore Drive, Temagami, Ontario shall, during normal office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., serve as the Advance Ballot Return Station.
The Municipality of Temagami will also hold an Advanced Poll on Saturday October 17, 2026 at 7 Lakeshore Drive, Temagami, Ontario from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Election Day In-Person and Drop-Off Poll on October 26th, 2026 will be located at the Municipal Office, 7 Lakeshore Drive – West Entrance, Temagami, Ontario from 10:00 AM to 8:00 p.m.

If you choose to vote in person, please bring your Vote By Mail Kit with you. If you do not have a kit and/or are not on the Voters’ List, you can be added with the appropriate identification, and a paper ballot will be provided to you.

What do I need to be eligible to vote?

To be eligible to vote, you must meet the qualifications of electors as listed in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, s.17(2).

A person is entitled to be an elector in the Municipality of Temagami, if on voting day, they meet all the following conditions:

A Canadian citizen;
At least 18 years old;
A resident, owner or tenant of land in the Municipality of Temagami, or the spouse of such tenant or owner;
Not prohibited from voting under any law.

If a voter does not receive their kit or receives one with incorrect information, they must update their details on the Voters’ List to receive a corrected kit.

You may only vote once in the Municipality of Temagami Municipal Election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Municipality. Anyone who receives a Voting Kit addressed to someone else should contact the Municipal Office. It is illegal to vote using another person’s kit.

How “Vote By Mail” Works

A Voting Kit will be mailed to every eligible voter on the Voters’ List.
Follow the instructions in the kit to fill out your ballot.
You can return your completed voting kit by mail in the voting kit return envelope (postage paid), or by dropping it off at the Ballot Return Station at:
- Municipality of Temagami Municipal Office – 7 Lakeshore Drive, Temagami, ON during regular office hours 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM or in the Ballot Drop Box at the West Side Entrance of the building.
On Advance Poll day – October 17, 2026 at the Municipality of Temagami Municipal Office – 7 Lakeshore Drive, Temagami, ON from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
The Election Day In-Person and Drop-Off Poll on October 26th, 2026 will be located at the Municipal Office, 7 Lakeshore Drive – West Entrance, Temagami, Ontario from 10:00 AM to 8:00 p.m.

A reminder to bring your kit with you if you plan to vote in person at the Advance or Election Day poll.

Vote by Mail Kit

Each Vote by Mail kit will contain the following:
- A Voting Instruction Sheet with a detachable Voter Declaration Form (with bar code);
- A paper Ballot;
- A White Ballot Secrecy Envelope; and
- A Yellow Return Envelope with prepaid postage.
Completing and Returning your Ballot
- Upon receipt of the Voting Kit, each voter should follow the instructions provided in the Voting Kit exactly as printed. The instructions require the voter to:
  - Complete the ballot;
  - Insert the ballot into the ballot envelope marked “Ballot Secrecy Envelope”;
  - SEAL the Ballot Secrecy Envelope;
  - Complete and sign the Voter Declaration Form. If a voter requires assistance in voting, he/she/they shall make their mark (i.e. an “x”) on the signature line and have a witness sign in the signature are of the Voter Declaration Form and print their name below;
  - Place the completed Voter Declaration Form and the SEALED Ballot Secrecy Envelope into the yellow prepaid business reply envelope;
  - Seal the yellow prepaid business reply envelope; and
  - Mail the yellow prepaid business reply envelope by the stated deadline or deliver it by some other means to the Municipal Office (Ballot Return Station) no later than 8:00 PM

REMEMBER: Only ballots received at the Municipal Office by 8:00 PM on Election Day will be counted. If you are not able to get your yellow return envelop to Canada Post by October 15, 2026 you may want to consider sending by courier or arranging to drop it off at the Municipal Office during regular hours, at the after hours drop box, or at the Advance or Election Day Polls.
