National Invasive Species Awareness Week (May 15 – 22, 2022)

 

National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) was developed by the Canadian Council on Invasive Species to educate Canadians about preventing the spread of invasive species.

“Invasive species” are plants, animals, and micro-organisms that have been accidentally or deliberately introduced into areas beyond their native ranges. The introduction or spread of these alien species negatively impacts the environment, economy, and/or society (including human health).

The 2022 NISAW campaign encourages Canadians to “Take Action” through specific steps that stop the spread of invasives. Here are some examples:
